PROJECT ECHO: NURSING HOMES
What: Series of training/discussion sessions focused on preventing and controlling COVID-19 spread in nursing homes
Who: Training for nursing home staff in Georgia; Training provided by field experts and coordinated by Emory University & Georgia State University

When: Weekly, 60- to 90-minute virtual sessions for 16 weeks beginning November 9th-13th

- Connect with others who understand the current challenges nursing homes are facing
- Participate in a community of practice alongside peers and local experts
- Improve safety and wellness for both residents and staff
Details
- Educational video from national experts in geriatrics, quality improvement, etc. (15-30 minutes)
- Live case discussion with Quality Improvement experts (30-45 minutes)
- Collaborative resource/knowledge sharing with peers (30 minutes; optional)
- Nursing homes will be compensated $6,000 for participation as long as:
- The nursing home is eligible to receive HHS Cares Act Provider Relief Funds; and
- At least 2 nursing home staff members attend at least 13 out of the 16 sessions (CNA highly recommended)
Weeks 1-9: Predominantly COVID Content Delivery
QI Coach will focus on:
- Alignment with Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)
- Identification of opportunities for improvement
- As-needed support for QI methods and tools (based on local case presentations)
Weeks 10-16
- Project set-up: fundamental questions, teams
- Testing changes
- Using data for improvement
- Implementing changes that result in improvement
- Case presentation: focus on action
