Atlanta, GA – Emily Graybill, PhD, has been a faculty member at the Center for Leadership in Disability (CLD) at Georgia State University (GSU) since 2011. During that time, she has led impactful work that has strengthened Georgia’s systems of care for children, adults, and families living with disabilities.
Dr. Graybill transitioned into the role of Director on June 1st of this year following the retirement of CLD’s founding Director.
Dr. Graybill is an expert in infant, early childhood, and school mental health; universal behavior screening and individualized positive behavior support in schools; and the implementation and evaluation of public health initiatives for underserved populations, including children with disabilities. She and her team have trained thousands of Georgia teachers to support students with challenging behaviors. These trainings have kept students in their local schools and in their classrooms where their learning is best supported. Dr. Graybill has also built relationships that have led to increased federal funding to strengthen Georgia’s early childhood workforce.
Dr. Kathleen Baggett, interim Director of the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development, a parent organization to CLD, is "delighted" with this appointment, stating, "We are so fortunate to have [Emily] carrying on the torch and bringing her own touch to this important leadership role."
In addition to her role as CLD’s Director, Dr. Graybill is also a Clinical Associate Professor in GSU’s School of Public Health (SPH). She is the Program Director for the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA)-funded Maternal Child Health Certificate Program in SPH, Director of Georgia’s HRSA-funded Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities program, and Principal Investigator on an interdisciplinary early intervention training program for GSU students in the physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology programs that is funded by the US Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs.
