Meet John Olmstead, a CLD UCEDD Trainee!
John was working with a non-profit (GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students) and knew that he wanted to continue to work in child-centric research/work. He joined the CLD team as a Trainee in May 2019 for a year term. After graduating in May 2020, John was accepted into the Class CVIII cohort for Applied Epidemiology Fellows with CSTE (Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists). He has a joint position between the Georgia Department of Public Health and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Though not an initial goal, John has found value in developing professional relationships, remaining on great terms and communicating semi-regularly with all of his previous supervisors. In his free time, he utilizes his proximity to the Dekalb Farmer’s Market to cook often, and build a spice rack; which has come in handy with the extended distancing guidelines. The three words he’d use to describe himself are: Inquisitive; Conscientious; and Nerdy.
Thank you John, for all you’ve done at CLD!
